  • Author: Shirley
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

Gather these ingredients to make your Baked Cranberry Brie Bread Bowl:

  • 1 large round sourdough bread loaf
  • 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • Crackers, bread cubes, or veggies for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Bread Bowl:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Hollow Out the Bread: Using a serrated knife, cut a circle in the top of the sourdough loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch wall around the edges. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.

Assemble the Filling:

  1. Prepare the Brie: Remove the rind from the top of the brie wheel (optional for smoother melting). Place the brie into the hollowed-out bread bowl.
  2. Add Cranberry Sauce: Spoon the cranberry sauce over the brie, spreading it evenly.
  3. Sprinkle Toppings: Add chopped rosemary and pecans or walnuts on top. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired.

Bake the Bread Bowl:

  1. Brush with Olive Oil: Brush the edges of the bread bowl with olive oil or melted butter for a golden finish.
  2. Bake: Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.

Prepare for Serving:

  1. Toast the Bread Cubes: During the last 10 minutes of baking, add the reserved bread pieces to the baking sheet to toast them lightly.
  2. Serve: Remove the bread bowl from the oven, garnish with additional rosemary or a sprinkle of sea salt, and serve warm with crackers, veggies, or toasted bread cubes.
