Gather these ingredients to make your Baked Cranberry Brie Bread Bowl:
- 1 large round sourdough bread loaf
- 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
- ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
- Crackers, bread cubes, or veggies for serving
Instructions
Prepare the Bread Bowl:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Hollow Out the Bread: Using a serrated knife, cut a circle in the top of the sourdough loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch wall around the edges. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.
Assemble the Filling:
- Prepare the Brie: Remove the rind from the top of the brie wheel (optional for smoother melting). Place the brie into the hollowed-out bread bowl.
- Add Cranberry Sauce: Spoon the cranberry sauce over the brie, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle Toppings: Add chopped rosemary and pecans or walnuts on top. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired.
Bake the Bread Bowl:
- Brush with Olive Oil: Brush the edges of the bread bowl with olive oil or melted butter for a golden finish.
- Bake: Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
Prepare for Serving:
- Toast the Bread Cubes: During the last 10 minutes of baking, add the reserved bread pieces to the baking sheet to toast them lightly.
- Serve: Remove the bread bowl from the oven, garnish with additional rosemary or a sprinkle of sea salt, and serve warm with crackers, veggies, or toasted bread cubes.
