Instructions
Prepare the Cookie Dough
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Egg and Extracts: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using).
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Color the Dough: Add green food coloring a few drops at a time, mixing until you achieve the desired shade of Grinch green.
Shape and Bake
- Scoop Dough: Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Add Heart Sprinkles: Press one red heart sprinkle into the center of each dough ball.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
- Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
