Gather the following ingredients to make your Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Dipped Marshmallows:
- 12–15 large marshmallows (preferably fluffy)
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
Prepare the Marshmallows:
- Prepare a Tray: Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper to place the marshmallows on as they cool and set.
- Insert Sticks (Optional): If you prefer a more elegant presentation or want to make them easier to dip, insert lollipop sticks or skewers into each marshmallow.
Melt the Chocolate:
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring each time until completely smooth. You can also use a double boiler to melt the chocolate if preferred.
- Dip the Marshmallows: Holding each marshmallow by the stick or with your fingers, dip it into the melted dark chocolate, coating about three-quarters of the marshmallow. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off.
Drizzle the Caramel:
- Drizzle with Caramel: After dipping in chocolate, drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the chocolate-covered marshmallows. You can use a spoon or pour the caramel into a squeeze bottle for more control.
- Sprinkle with Sea Salt: While the caramel is still soft, lightly sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the marshmallows for a sweet-salty flavor boost.
Let Set:
- Allow to Cool: Place the dipped marshmallows on the prepared parchment paper and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate and caramel to set. This helps the marshmallows firm up and makes them easier to handle.
