- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Strawberry Topping:
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, halved or sliced
- Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting or chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Crust
- Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated.
- Form the Crust: Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch tart pan, using the back of a spoon or a measuring cup to pack it down firmly.
- Chill the Crust: Place the crust in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to set.
Make the Chocolate Filling
- Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer.
- Combine with Chocolate: Pour the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate in a large mixing bowl. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften the chocolate.
- Stir until Smooth: Add the butter and vanilla extract, then stir the mixture until the chocolate is completely melted and the ganache is smooth and glossy.
- Pour into Crust: Pour the chocolate ganache into the chilled crust, spreading it evenly.
Chill and Add Toppings
- Chill the Tart: Place the tart in the refrigerator to chill for 2-4 hours or until the ganache is set.
- Arrange Strawberries: Once the ganache has set, arrange the halved strawberries on top of the tart in a circular pattern, or place them as desired.
- Optional Garnish: Dust with powdered sugar or sprinkle with chocolate shavings for added decoration.
