For the Pie Filling

    • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

    • 1 cup granulated sugar

    • 2 large eggs

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

    • ½ cup all-purpose flour

    • ¼ teaspoon salt

    • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

For Serving (Optional)

    • Whipped cream

    • Chocolate shavings

    • Vanilla ice cream

    • Hot fudge sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Mix butter and sugar
    In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla
    Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Combine dry ingredients
    In a separate bowl, mix cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
  5. Combine mixtures
    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Add chocolate chips
    Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  7. Bake the pie
    Pour the batter into the prepared pie dish and bake for 25–30 minutes. The edges should be set while the center remains slightly soft and fudgy.
  8. Cool slightly
    Let the pie cool for about 10–15 minutes before serving.
  9. Add toppings
    Serve warm with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
